Winter's lows. What to do?

Cherie reported... "I don’t know what to do, my energy is down, my bowel motions are sometimes constipated and sometimes loose. I’m feeling sluggish. My fingernail's not growing back properly after a nail infection. And my sinuses are dripping down the back of my throat causing me to clear my throat frequently through the day. When I wake in the morning I often have to blow my nose and I wonder if my thyroid is a bit sluggish at the moment.”

Cherie had come for a consultation over the last weeks as autumn transitioned into Winter. Her symptoms indicated a build up of ama or impurities from incomplete digestion during winter which had been released into her system as part of the seasonal change from autumn into winter. Taking into consideration the seasonal change and her current symptoms it was clear that a seasonal cleanse was needed.

 

Cherie’s Cleanse

Let’s walk through what Cherie did as you may like to do a similar seasonal cleanse to help blow winter blues away with increased energy, clarity and happiness!

First need was to support the cleansing of ama (impurities) from her respiratory system along with the digestive system and organs of elimination. The most effective way to do it quickly and easily was with some herbals.

Morning herbs First thing in the morning upon rising Cherie took 2 tablets of Congest Assist with a glass of warm water and lime or lemon. After breakfast she took 1 tablet of Elim Tox. This is the time of the day when Kapha dosha is strongest within us and is thus the best time of the day to take herbs to reduce mucus, respiratory congestion and general congestion.
 

Lunch herbs

To support the main detoxification organ of the body -the liver - Cherie took 2 tablets of Liver Care prior lunch. This is the best time of the day to support digestion and the liver as Pitta dosha, which governs digestion and liver support is most active between 10am to 2pm. After lunch Cherie took 1 tablet of Elim Tox.

 

Evening meal herbs

Vata dosha governs the organs of elimination and is active between 2pm and 6pm, so early evening is the best time of the day to support cleansing of the organs of elimination. Thus, Ladies Rejuvenation 2 tablets were recommended prior to the evening meal. (The equivalent herbal for men is Rejuvenation for Men). After the evening meal Cherie took 1 tablet of Elim Tox.

 

Bedtime:

To support the release of impurities from the gastrointestinal tract to the organs of elimination Cherie took 2 tablets of Digest Tone at bedtime.

 

What happened?

Two weeks later when we touched base again for a follow up consultation Cherie was amazed at her progress and commented “I can’t believe how much better I feel. It has only been two weeks. Did the herbs include some mood lifting herbs as I have been feeling much happier too?”
The explanation she had received about the build-up of ama or impurities from incomplete digestion now made sense to Cherie from her personal experience. After only two weeks she was back on track and we talked about what to do next to help provide nourishment following her cleanse.

The herbs recommended had been to help her body cleanse ama (impurities) and were not targeting mood enhancement. Experience shows when ama is present it impacts not only our body, but also how we feel and how our mind functions. By cleansing ama changes in energy and in the functioning of the body and mind occur. Lifting of mood and happiness levels naturally increase when the body feels lighter, more balanced and at ease.
