The Magic of Manjistha

When you are under stress, which is the first detox system to break down or become clogged? If you guessed your lymph system then you are correct.
Many health concerns can be traced back to a sluggish or stagnant lymph system which acts much like a drain when it gets blocked. It causes a build up of waste that then starts to circulate throughout your body localising in areas that are sensitive or have been previously overloaded.
Once the build-up in your ‘drainage system’ is addressed even long term and persistent symptoms start to melt away, as your body’s healing power comes back online.
Ayurveda explains that your body’s tissues are formed through a seven-step process. As you eat and drink, what you take in is processed one step at a time (much like an irrigation system) through seven layers of tissue formation.
The first two layers of tissue formation are Rasa (lymph) and Rakta (blood). When the body becomes congested and is not able to detoxify properly then your lymph and blood tissues take the hit first. When they are compromised then the other five levels of tissue formation fail to get the nutrition they need, or are created from improperly formed tissue.
The seven tissue levels or dhatus are:
1. Rasa lymph & nutrient fluid
2. Rakta corpuscular blood
3. Mamsa muscle
4. Medha fat and hormones
5. Asthi bone & connective tissue
6. Majja nerves and bone marrow
7. Sukra reproductive tissue, ova and sperm
Addressing staganation and blockages in your lymph and blood formation is the first and very important step required to address symptoms of imbalance in the following five levels of tissue formation.
In which of these seven areas of tissue formation do you notice signs of discomfort or imbalance?
What to do
So when your drains are blocked or backing up what do you do? I call the plumber and in a little while the problem is sorted. When the channels in your lymph get blocked then I prescribe Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) a red powder that is a powerful blood and lymph cleanser. Some consider Manjistha’s cleansing powers to be even more powerful than beetroot. It is in my experience one of the most effective blood and lymph cleansers.
So if you wonder whether your symptoms (mild or otherwise) are being impacted by lymph or blood congestion, then I strongly suggest you follow the regimen below for 1-3 months as it’s likely to make a big difference.
Prior meals 3 x day
Take 1 tablet of Digest Tone
15-30 minutes after meals 3 x day
Take ½-1 tsp of Manjistha powder in a little warm water along with 1 capsule of Organic Tumeric and 1-2 tablets of Organic Guggul.
Wishing you the bliss of an energetic and vibrant mind and body.
